Sumary

Salonomi was designed and developed to solve the needs for beauty salon owners to be able to record their sales, expenses, commissions, and reservations and allow them to access all this information from the cloud through mobiles and laptops.

Goal

  • Improve the visual style

  • Create a mobile-friendly experience

  • Create new features for the Salonomi App.

Problem

  • From the beginning Salonomi wasn't built to be mobile-friendly, however, through analytics we realized that more than 80% of customers were using it from mobile devices and some customers were having problems using it

Process

  • I created a document with a list of all the screens of the application

  • For each screen, I added a screenshot of the mobile version, identified the visual issues it had, and assessed the priority of the issues together with the product team.

  • Having identified the higher priority screens, I started to redesign them trying to balance usability and difficulty to implement by the developer team.

  • Here's an example of the invoices page which was one of the most important screens for the users:

    • I grouped the invoice information in a box with invoice number, customer name, payment date, and invoice total.

    • I used the library Bootstrap 3 to continue with the framework used by the development team.

    • I added the edit button so that the owner can edit the invoice at any time.

    • I added the print button so that the administrator of the beauty salon can easily print the invoice to give it to the client.

Result

  • Redesigned 7 screens to be mobile-friendly and compatible with Bootstrap 3 which was the existing web framework used by the development team.

  • Solved the need that the user had when using Salonomi on their phone.
